Hi,
When I entered the Asia Forum, I seen a thread replied on 17th August 2010 for some advice for a trip to during November and March. I also replied to that thread, but when i saw the date posted it was August 2009. It means my advice is of no use for that traveler.
We've had this discussion a few times in the past, and the conclusion has always been that if a thread is still active, there must also be some reason for it. Older threads will typically die away naturally, but sometimes a question just remains so relevant that it is better to keep the thread active. Even if the original poster can no longer use the information, other members can.
That said, with the new site launching in the next week or two, we might need to revisit this as one big improvement in the forums is the linking to related threads from each thread page. That could bring back up a LOT of old threads that otherwise would never have shown... clearly this will need some monitoring going forward
