Hey Guys!
I've been. Is that the answer you were looking for?
I went a couple summers ago with a few mates. We had rental home on the North Shore. The beaches there are amazing. We rented with Kauai Vacation Rental & Real Estate, Inc. Hope that helps you out! Safe travels!
Kauai is my favorite Hawaiian island. Last time I was there, stayed around Poipu on the South side. I would definitely recommend finding a vacation rental instead of staying at a resort hotel, but that is a personal choice. The beaches are great all around, and if you're there in the summer, the north shore would be a good choice. Hanalei has one of the best beaches on the island and is great for surfing. Here are some suggestions of -snip for your next adventure!
Have a great trip!

I visited back in November 2002 with my wife and son and stayed at the Kauai Marriott near Lihue, which was an absolutely gorgeous place.
Actually, I should say my wife and son stayed there, while I spent my entire 14 day stay in the local hospital due to an usual accident on Day 1.
Let me just say that I suggest you don't go rock climbing without a rope--and that you don't try to jump any volcanic rocks--since doing so can be dangerous (and I speak from experience, since it took me 4 months after my surgery to learn to walk again--and I can't run anymore.)
My wife and son loved their trip--and my wife says Kauai is her favorite Hawaiian island of the ones she's been to (Oahu, Maui, and Kauai). You should have a great trip.
