1st time to Vietnam

Hi, I'm currently planning my first trip to Vietnam and was looking for some advice. I am a 30 year old male and will be traveling alone. I am a Chef and was hoping to see/taste/learn to cook as much food as possible while on my trip. I am planning to arrive in October 2011. Right now I am planning on starting in the south and moving north. I have done a little traveling but this is my first solo adventure. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

hi!
Maybe you could look at my latest forum thread. There are some members that replied. They might be able to help you Some are from Vietnam and they are really friendly people.
All the best for your trip!

The really good food in Vietnam is in the city of Hue and the town of Hoi An. The food in Dalat is influenced greatly by the French. Saigon is the center of street food, and both Saigon and Hanoi have become very international when it comes to cuisine, of late. As in China and Thailand, Vietnam is definitely a food-oriented culture (one of the main reasons so many of us return again and again).

Aside from food, the best thing about this country are it's great people - extremely friendly and outgoing. Vietnam is also extremely easy to travel in - but, stay off of the roads, if you can.

Westerners usually are shocked by the traffic here, but it's just the whacky ways of the Vietnamese. One thing you cant say about this country is that it's boring! No doubt you will love this place, but search the internet for "common scams in Vietnam". My personal favorite place is Hanoi - a really unique and interesting city, the Paris of SE Asia.

Hi, welcome to Vietnam
If you are planning to travel in Vietnam, don't be worry about food. In the restaurants, there are much western, Asian food. And " the really good food in Vietnam is in the city of Hue and the town of Hoi An" is right. In Hue, you can find out the royal food and in Hoi An town, you can take part in cooking class in Hoi An at Hai Scout ( Red Bridge) or contact me on -snip-

Nice trip
