Floods in Southern Thailand vs Honneymoon

Hi everybody

Hi, I'm in Koh Pha Ngan at the moment which is off the opposite coast to Krabi and it's just been raining constantly for the last few days. It's finally stopped raining this morning though, so hopefully things are going to start getting better now.

I would guess that by 27th April things will be back to normal in Krabi town itself, but some of the villages in the area have been totally destroyed, so it depends where you are specifically going.

I'm going to Koh Phangan 28th April - do you think things will be back to normal by then? Unless the rain stays of course... I'm a bit worried

I'm pretty sure things will be back to normal by then on Koh Pha Ngan, especially in Haad Rin. The road behind Sunrise Beach didn't flood even after it had been raining solidly for a week cos all the rain just flows down the bank onto the beach. The only real issue was the fact that no ferries were running, but when I left the sea was extremely calm so it looks like the ferries should be back to normal by now.

I woule never let floods, demonstrations, bad weather, or anything else interfere with a trip to thailand. One thing that you can count on in Thailand and that is the Thai's will clear roads, drain water, contain the demonstrators, do whatever it takes in a timely manner to lesson the tourists impact. If you find that something is interfering, just move. One of the great things about Thailand is that if it's going on in one place there are 10 other palces where it is uneffected, rainy in one spot, sunny in another. OK, honeymoon, maybe not looking to move around a lot, but you wont have to go far to escape a flood or any other problem. You want a really quiet place with few tourists and usually uneffected by issues, try Khao Lak. Great hotels and great beaches. Beaches there in my opinion are sooo much better along the Andaman side than the Gulf.
It is a bit unusualy to find it flooding this early into the season. The further you get into May, June and July you will find it rainier. But then you are on your honeymoon!
Have fun, enjoy Thailand

i have been in krabi for a week now, the weather has improved dramatically and has been sunny for the past 5 days. i arrived during the rain but everything is ok now. i think the east coast islands suffered more damage but krabi is fine
