I stayed at Chalet de Bassi in Mendoza. The people there are great. The place is beautiful. Not sure about hammock though there is an outside patio. It is a little away from downtown, but public transpo etc are accessed right on the street in front of the hostel.
I loved mendoza and would move there in a heartbeat!
