Holiday plans gone wrong, now i am going to Brisbane in November on my own. Not sure if i am looking forward to it. NAy suggestions or tips?

Hate the thought of going, but its booked now so no point missing it! Was ment to be visiting someone out there but im not now HAHA so i have nothing planned except the flight I have booked.

Not used to doing things on my own, need my hand holding hehe. All my friends are studying or cant afford it so thats poo.

Hopefully I will get something sorted but im not to confident :/

Brisbane itself is not that interesting a city; you can wander around there for a day or two, but after that you'll have seen most things.
What I'd do in two weeks is to get a that let's you hop-on, hop-off for the route along the coast to Sydney, and explore that stretch over two weeks (or do that ); there's quite a few interesting places to see, and you'll meet loads of people travelling in the same direction, either on the bus/train or in the hostels where you'll be staying.
Then when the two weeks are over, fly back to Brisbane (book that plane ticket now already), and then on back home.

Thanks for the advise. Must work on my people skills for those two weeks hehe. As I have no real reason to stay in brisbane the best thing to do will be travel.

I don't know how I will get on as I like order and plans but hay ho we shall see :D

If you do end up staying around in Brisbane for a while, the bridge climb is really good and Mount Coot-tha is worth a visit.

Brisbane is very safe. The place to stay is upper Roma st, thats where all the Backpackers are and all the traveller's bars. I've lived in Brisbane for 13years. it's not a bad starting point because it's close to The Gold Coast, The Sunnshine Coast, Morton Bay, Fraser Island, Morton Island, Stradbroke Island, Theme Parks, Southbank ect .. Check out www.numbeo.com . It tells you the cost of living in Brisbane.

Thank you all. Maybe it will be better than I thought. I will give that website a look.

There's nothing wrong with Brisbane! I've been living here for 3 years now and personally prefer it to Sydney or Melbourne etc... In 2 weeks you could definitely have a great time in Brisbane. It's just a short jump to the Gold Coast where there's heaps to do like the theme parks or beach etc. And from Brisbane you can take some great little tours to Fraser Island for 4-wheel0driving with the Dingos or up to Noosa which is great too! Or a small trip down south to Byron Bay just over the NSW border which is so much fun! Let me know if you need any more tips on places to stay/eat/visit etc
