I didn't find much to see in Malaysia. Penang Island is worth a visit. Kuala Lumpur for a bit of shopping, etc and maybe a day trip somewhere.
Generally the weather is just plain hot and humid that time of year.

May I know if you will travel in West Malaysia only? If that's the case, please check out Melaka, Penang Island, Cameron Highlands, Taman Negara (National Park) and Perhentian Island!
If you have time, perhaps should get yourself a cheap ticket in AirAsia.com and fly to Borneo (Sabah & Sarawak)

We loved Malaysia and had the same problem with rain on the east coast.
