Sao Paulo has a fair bit of crime so not a good place to travel around.
Rio has the beaches, the statue and .......
I quite liked Buenos Aires but not a lot to do there.
A number of good day trips from Cuzco and the city itself is worth a look around. A day sees everything in Machu Picchu, unless you are going to hike there instead of taking a train and bus.
Many miss out Lima though it is certainly worth at least a day or two there.
Uruguay as in Montevideo is only a short hop from BA and I spent a nice day there.
Chile as in Santiago isn't far from Lima on the map but the bus takes 30 hours so I flew instead. Not cheap.
