Trip of a life time....how to go about it!

Hi,

Where to start, well I started with a spreadsheet and listed all the countries/cities/towns I would like to visit split into days, taking some ideas from my husband.

These are things to consider
Climate and weather in each country you are visiting. You'll then know which way round you are going.

Cost wise
Check out all the Visas you will need to purchase and where to get them, can't all be acquired at home some you will need to get on route, this can be costly.

Check out and cost of the inoculations injections and malaria tablets you will need, these can be very expensive.

Cost round the world tickets, or you may decide to buy as you go.

What I would always suggest is booking accommodation in advance if you have very long flights. It's a pain having to look around when you are tied.

Check out the best deals on credit and debit cards for using abroad and get two of each, sometimes they stop working for no apparent reason. Never ever keep the cards and cash in the same place. Use money belts and zipped trouser pockets for security.

If you are away for months you will need to do Internet banking DON'T use Internet cafes for this as they may not have a secure line. I use 5 * hotels business area the chances are this will have a secure line. You could take a Net book and use hot spots but your security needs to be up to scratch. I'm lucky my son can do all this for me as I have no idea what to do he advices me.

Gosh thanks for all the advise Jean. I honestly didn't realise the amount of things we have to do and organise. I thought it was going to be as easy as buy flight tickets, book into hotels and bobs your uncle!! How wrong am I? It hasn't put us off, that's for sure, but it will take a lot more planning than I thought.

I'm off to make my spreadsheet.

Thanks again
Mulberry
