Vietnam plans - help!

In Vietnam for just over a week, tagging on time to a work trip,I finish my work in Hanoi so trying to work out best route for 7 days to get the most out of my time. First stop planned is definitly going to be Hailong Bay but not sure where to go after that- fancy some beach time and sun... Can anyone help with recommendations and suggestions on how to get from one place to another.

Good morning,
You end your work in Ha Noi so you can start your trip in Ha Noi. WIth 7 days you have more choices although you havenot enough time to visit all Vietnam.
1. You can visit around North of Vietnam include: Ha Noi, Ha Long Bay, Sapa, Hoa Lu Van Long. This is my brieft:
D1: Ha Noi city
D2: Ha noi - Ha Long
D3: Ha Long - Ha Noi - night train Sapa
D4: Sapa
D5: Sa Pa - night train back Ha Noi (if you wish you can spend more day in Sapa to visit market on Saturdays on Sundays if your time fall on these days)
D6: Ha Noi arrive - Hoa lu Van Long
D7: Ha Noi depart back home

Option 2:
D1: Ha Noi - Ha Long
D2: Ha long - Ha Noi
D3: Ha Noi city - flight to Da Nang
D4: Visit Hoi An - My Son
D5: Hoi AN - Da Nang - flight to Ho Chi Minh & 1/2 day city
D6: Ho Chi Minh - Mekong delta
D7: Ho Chi Minh depart
Any more help you can send message to me

wow plenty of days to travel I will start my trip from Thailand will fly to Da Nang and take a taxi or bus to Hoi An only 4 days I hope you have a great trip I will be there in April

Hanoi is quite far from good beach locations - really the closest would be Hoi An in Central Vietnam (Danang airport). My favorite places in the North are #1 Hanoi, #2 Sapa and #3 Mai Chau. I urge you to read about this country over on . 7 days is just not enough time to see much more than Northern Vietnam, and beaches in this country just do not compare to those in Thailand, unfortunately.

I wouldn't say that Vietnam beaches cant be compared to those in Thailand. How many times and how many days did you spend in Vietnam, and how many beaches did you visited? If you only visit beaches where the tourism has been grown, you won't find the real beauty of Vietnamese beaches. Try a visit to Thanh Hoa and Hoang Thinh beach, it is untouched by human, its one of the best beaches I've been to ever. If you have a chance to come to Vietnam, just tell me, I don't mind to invite you for a visit there ^_^

PS - going last week of March.

Hi,

If you have only 7 days, you should pick up the most interesting destination of the North, the Centre and the South of Vietnam.

The North: Halong Bay is a good choice. The bay is amazing, I bet you know already by searching on the internet. Sleep overnight on boat is a memorable experience you should try. Do the kayaking, visit the cave, visit the floating village is also fun.

The Centre: I love Hoi An ancient town. Everybody loves Hoi An. This season is the best time to visit Hoi An.

The South: The South is hot all year round, and if you want to spend time on the beach, Phu Quoc Island (fly from Hochiminh city) is a great choice.

May you have great trip. If you have any question, feel free to send me a message. I'm willing to give advice.

To maximize your time, I suggest you make use of the overnight bus or train: HaNoi to Hue. Or HaLong Bay to Hue. Hue is worth 2 days IMO, then a short bus over to Hoi An. Hoi An has an interesting historic section, Cham ruins outside of the city and a nice beach just a short moto or bike ride away. This is about as far south as you can do in 7 days IMO. Head to DaNang for a flight back to HAN or reverse the route and another overnight bus/train back to HaNoi.

Good luck with your planning.

Vietnam is one of most beautiful place for tours...There are lots of things to do where you can enjoy every moment of your life. They have many world heritages places to visit like Complex of Hué Monuments, Ha Long Bay and My Son Sanctuary. It's also known for natural tourist destination.
