finishing up my second year at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Going to take a year off and (i think) I've decided on this route above. Going to finish up banking in on two jobs this summer vacation, (june-august) turning 21, and then heading out. I've done extensive research and have been to China before. I'm in my second semester of Chinese so I'm a master of the language (NOT). Always wanted to do it, and its my dream and my passion to travel.

although I never went to Bhutan before, I heard that travelers are required to spend at least 250 US$ per day to be allowed entry on the territory. They apparently did that in an effort to keep tourism to a minimum. Maybe someone else who has been there can confirm or (hopefully) refute that.
Ya when you get the visa its like 20$ initially, but you can only get that if you have the prepaid bookings that are around 200$ for a night, that includes a tour guide, transportation and board. because of this i might just be passing through or, avoid it completely depending on how much money i have left. But i guess its cheaper in the off season around july, august, i hear you can also get invited by a volunteer organization or a person of social status for much cheaper, which would be fairly easy through India.

Preferably come to India in between October and march.otherwise it can get very hot...
and you can always consult if you need any assistance in selecting places to visit in India...

And Vjnaudy thats great because i will be there at around march, if I'm lucky, as i will be starting in Bangkok Thailand now, in September, yes i changed my route up, no more Bhutan and no more Nepal as the logistics of Bhutan are to convoluted for my budget and i will only be passing through Nepal briefly.
Going through Thailand to Laos, up though Eastern China, and across China slowly over a couple months, through Tibet, Nepal and around India for a few months.
i haven't heard of many people doing this recently and am still working out costs, logistics, visas, and things that i will do along the way. But its going to be pretty open ended none the less. Trying to stay off planes and trying find obscure opportunities along the way.
So I would really like to hear from people about border crossings, dangers, websites that would help, anything really would be helpful as i have 3 months until i leave 8,000 dollars saved in-counting, 2 jobs, a Chinese class, and 60,000 frequent flyer miles. I'm pretty excited!
why delete my post? Pretty senseless. My last post had a link to a website with information.. Different places therefore different questions - The website was selling nothing. Some pretty ridiculous rules.
It also happened to me in the past. The site is pretty aggressive against spam and normal posts easily get mistaken for spam by the site or the administrators. I really hate it when you spend your time to try to help others and then end up flagged as a spammer. But on the other way there seems to be many people trying to missuse Travellerspoint to propagate spam.
