Mexico; Quality of Life vs. Working

Hello everyone, this is a great forum and I've gained a lot from reading the posts.

This may sound strange--but apparently there is a large group of tourists who like to take culinary tours.

Even I have already booked one day taking cooking classes. After all, it was ranked as the "#1 thing to do in Puerto Vallarta" on another well-known travel site.) Since the rates are fairly high compared to the normal Mexican pay rates (I'm paying $280 for a five hour tour for my wife and myself of local markets, the cooking classes--2 appetizers, 1 entree and 1 dessert, the recipes, and a margarita), I would think that booking a group at a slightly more nominal rate could be profitable--and would pay for both yourself and the chefs/sommaliers.

Since you are planning to go to Guadalajara, why not specialize in Guadalajara's specialty--tours of the many tequila factories with a lunch prepared as well--or with a cooking class experience included (hopefully before everybody is drunk). You could learn some basic Spanish--and make a deal with the tequila groups after opening your tourist company and advertising to visiting tourists. The only problem might be that Guadalajara is not quite as much a tourist area as Puerto Vallarta--so maybe moving to Puerto Vallarta and doing this there may also be worth considering.

I know this is my fourth trip to Puerto Vallarta, and a I haven't yet visited one of the local tequila factories--but I would love to, if I knew I had a decent guide to describe things to me.

P.S. If you decide not to do this, let me know--maybe I'll try this myself.
