Hi everyone
hey,
I would definately reccommend Borneo, we had a great time there, there is great diving and the jungles are amazing too, lots of wildlife.
If you aren't really into partying then Malaysia and Borneo would be good, myself and my boyfriend went there and found that because it's a muslim country the alcohol is much more expensive than elsewhere in SE Asia.
Malaysia is a little bit more expensive than Thailand but you can still get a room for $10/$15 a night.
Vietnam is great too, it is definately on the cheap side and travelling around Vietnam is really easy too.
Places I would reccommend are, in Malaysia, Kota Kinabalu (it's a city but has beautiful islands just off the coast which are nice to spend the day at) Uncle Tans, Perhentian islands, Cameron Highlands and in Vietnam, Hoi An, Ninh Binh and Halong bay
myself and my friend did 3 months in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand and spent about 3000 euro so I think you can do it on that price as long as you sensible with your money.
Good luck planning.
You could pop up north to Chiang Mai before heading south. Since you get 30 days visa free on arrival, you could spend that time in Thailand, which as said is quite cheap.
Penang is quite nice. Kuala Lumpur, Cameron Highlands and such.
Singapore is expensive for accommodation so maybe not too long there.
You are going in the rainy season so take a telescopic umbrella or two. Rain when it comes is often heavy and may be a short spell or last for a few days. There may be flooding in places.
hostelbookers, asiarooms, hostelworld, travellerspoint, etc for accommodation. As you are travelling out of season, prices should not be too bad.
Be careful of pickpockets, particularly in Bangkok.
Hi , I feel maybe you can try the land tour in Malaysia, Bangkok fly to Penang then follow by rental of MPV (with driver) as transport one place to another, said Penang, Ipoh, Cameron Highland, maybe KL, then Malacca and Johor. From Johor you can fly to Borneo then maybe back to Johor after Borneo and go to Singapore. If you are not really particular on the hotel room, normally within Malaysia got those rather nice budget hotel at around RM60-100 per nite. As for the transport I think if you rent for a rather long maybe they can give some discount for you. For stay in Singapore rather expensive, but if you don't mind can stay in Johor Bahru within around 1/2 hr go to Singapore (if no traffic jam). then one to two days you can finish Singapore tour.
