All I got left to do now is insurance but there are so many at such different prices... Any1 recommend a good insurance company they went with...?
For our 12 month round the world trip I used
www.worldnomads.com/
I needed to see a dentist when we were in the US and they paid me out while we were traveling.
There are restrictions on age so now we can't use them which is a pity.
I'd happily recommend Worldnomads also and pretty much use them exclusively (disclosure, we also partner with them, largely because we like how they operate). The Worldnomads age limit depends on where you are resident. For example, for Australians it's 66. For those in the UK it's 60.
If you do decide to use them, enter our SAVE7 promo code at checkout and you'll get a 7% discount on the total (excluding US citizens who unfortunately aren't allowed to get discounts on insurance for some reason)
By the way, if you've already paid for tickets, accommodation, etc, you should get insurance as soon as possible since it also covers potential cancellation of your trip. We got very close to having to make a cancellation claim a couple of months ago. Not having insurance would have sucked royally!
I would recommend 'Insure & Go'.
I managed to get a decent backpackers standard cover for 12 months, plus, additional laptop cover (up to a grand!) for £263. The policy is very basic but the better policies aren't that much more expensive. I'm on a budget and they were by far the cheapest for what i needed!
