Florence orvs Rome

attar has indicated that this thread is about Italy

Florence is inland and though it has a nice river running through it, it is a fair distance from a beach:

Rome has a lot to see whereas Florence itself you could see the lot in one day (queues can be long so booking tickets online beforehand is good).

From Florence there are frequent trains and buses to nearby Pisa which is worth a visit.

hostelbookers has some cheapish hotels, hostels, etc. The next 3 months will be very busy in Italy so book flights and accommodation soon.

My opinion - definitely divide your trip, 1 day Florence 3 days Rome. Good advice from Cyberia.

Florence is about 100km (something less) from town like Viareggio, Lido di Camaiore, Torre del Lago (the place where Puccini was born), excellent places to enjoy the sea. Further, Florence is 50minutes from Pisa, 45minutes from Lucca, 1h20min from Siena, 30min from Vinci (where the great Leonardo was born).

I'm not trying to say that Rome is worse than Florence, neither I think the opposite, but the Sea near to Rome is far worse than Tuscany sea..! Remember to ask me what you want about Tuscany, that's where I live!

Thanks all for the suggestion.
Now we decided to spend some time in Rome as well.
However, we do not know how to split the days between the two.
We will stay in italy for 5 full days and 2 half days.

I agree with magykal1 - I loved Rome, but Florence is good for a quick getaway too

Hi,
I suggest to visit I totally agree and recommend Tuscany where you can experience the unforgettable taste of Wine. The magnificent churches of Italy including St Peters Cathedral. amazing city of San Gimgnano. I'm not sure which of the Italian beaches to visit but you can search Google for Amalfi coast as a start .
