Which country will you be applying from? I applied in the Manchester VFS global office and it took around a week. It will take longer if you apply by post.

Im from UK - London/essex.

What I have heard is that the visa is valid for 6 months from the date of issue, but wasnt sure how long the application takes. Dont want it to expire before I travel.

Some people said they waited ages?

A week sounds good! :-)

Yes the visa starts from the date of issue. Have a look at; all applications have to go through VFS global now. If you look under FAQs it says 2-3 days processing time - if you apply at the London office you should be fine. They will check over your application for you and then send it off; you'll then receive your passport back via courier.

I had heard a few nightmare stories too but you should be fine as long as there are no mistakes on your application but as I mentioned, the staff at VFS will check this.

There was a girl in the Manchester office who had been waiting 6 weeks for her visa which she thought was because they didn't take kindly to the fact that she'd visited Pakistan many years ago.
