Hi. Me and a friend are going to Jordan in a couple of weeks, and would like to go to Israel for a day or two to visit Jerusalem but I'm getting pretty confused about how is the best way to do it, or whether it's even viable at all.
We'll have a hire car, but obviously can't take that over the border, so I'm guessing we'll have to leave that in Amman and get a taxi or bus to the border (unless there's a car park near the border?). The King Hussein/Allanby Bridge is the nearest, but I've read conflicting stuff online as to whether this is still viable, as the area around the bridge is under Palestinian control. Likewise, parts of Jerusalem (such as Bethlehem) are Palestinian, does this mean we wouldn't be able to visit those parts?
Has anyone done this? Or at least have a better understanding of the situation than I do? At the moment I'm thinking of forgetting it and spending the day floating in the Dead Sea instead!
Any help would be massively appreciated. Thanks, Dan.
