It's a pipe dream of mine to take a travel expedition cruise down to Antarctica but my grandmother told me that they're no longer going to allow travelers after 2013. Has anyone heard this? I haven't found anything yet and my grandmother could have misunderstood....thought I would check?
Granny is mistaken. There might be new regulations regrading type of fuel, etc. that's allowed in Antarctica's waters, but tourist trips there are waaaay too lucrative to halt.

Thanks Terry. To clarify- I did a Google search that didn't yield any results but that doesn't always mean that what I heard isn't true so I thought I'd check to see if anyone else had heard about this alleged restriction.
I went to Antarctica last January. I didn't hear anything about stopping the trips and would be very surprised if this were true. However, they are very careful about the environment and the regulations are increasingly restrictive. The ship I went on will be decommissioned next year as it will not meet environmental requirements.
