graby has indicated that this thread is about Tibet
I just returned from Tibet travel back ... I am here to talk to you first, have any questions, ask me again
The matter of altitude sickness altitude sickness is normal, if you go to altitude sickness in Tibet was not normal .... treat altitude sickness, you must have a good attitude, do not dwell on the dead dead, I altitude sickness, but also how to stay, in Lhasa! ~ This was a must have a good attitude .. essential drugs must be with, such as Rhodiola, absolutely well-known, but in the plains very difficult to buy ... and eat Rhodiola, you must be in the 10 days before the trip began to eat. Nuodikang (doctors I bought) ..... must take some cold medicine, bandage, and diarrhea, sore throat medicine ... have used ..
2 lung capacity vital capacity is also better, so your oxygen consumption is not so severe, usually vital capacity, oxygen ultra-powerful on the plateau, the altitude sickness is worse .... If you usually have to do oxygen relatively movement, then pause before going ..
You a certain amount of mental preparation ... Tibet WC
Meals do not with the Mainland .... people a green pepper and shredded 30 dollars ...
You have to sit very long psychological preparation of the car ... starting from Lhasa one day 8 hours car is normal ....
Because you have to the place of which the scenery magnificent, that Nyingchi absolute first choice .... an altitude of just over two thousand, and trees, with the plains are similar ....
Southern groove is the kind of vegetation in many places ... the camera is really good .... ==
Shigatse Ali did not go, can not give opinions ....
9 with more film or memory card to go, I play for nine days, took two 4G card ...
10. In fact, Tibetans came good for us .... and most of them face good laugh at you
11 remember something internal absolutely can not take pictures of the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple within, something related to Buddhism must not take pictures!!!! Something is definitely not shoot! !!!!

Hi Graby
Me and my husband went to Tibet in Feb this year and we went with these guys...
http://www.shanghaifocus.com/tibet-tour
We did the 6 day tour which included Namtso Lake, Gyantse, Shigatse, friendship highway etc and although it said 'group' tour ... it ended up just being the two of us and a lovely girl from Sweden for the whole tour - so we paid group prices for turned out to be basically a private tour
I cannot recommend them enough. Our tour operative's name was Diana and she was great. She organised all of our internal flights (We flew from Shanghai - Chengdu - Lhasa - Shanghai.
She organised all of our permits and posted them to us at our hotel in Chengdu.
They were also the most competitively priced of the tour companies.
The guide came to meet us at the airport in Lhasa - spoke English and the driver was awesome - probably better than the 'tour guide' - even though he spoke less english lol
Our hotel in Lhasa was also really good. Excellent - considering we had hot water and a heater in February! Be warned though - the hotels in Shigatse do not keep their hot water/heaters on all year - we relied on a hot water bottle when we were there!
The only piece of advice I would have for you is - make sure you take a comprehensive Tibet guide book with you - even if it is only wikepedia downloads onto your iPad/iPhone like we did. The tour guides are not tour guides in the usual way - they are more like 'chaperones' and will only tell you the basics of the places you visit. We found that the 'tour guide' coupled with our downloads made the whole experience heaps better.
Fingers crossed the borders open up to tourists again - we absolutely loved Tibet regardless of all the propoganda/press/issues with china etc...it is definitely a once in a lifetime trip.
Happy planning!
wow, thanks for that information, I checked out that website and was pleasantly surprised with the prices.
I really do hope that travel will be ok when we plan on going, it just seems like a great place to visit!
thanks again

In Lhasa you can find many small tour company to get to Namtso lake, which is a must!
