hopefully the host service will stand in good business stead and my entries won't be threatened by a "pay or else we delete" mode as it gains momentum.
The blogs here on the site have been running since early 2005, which will hopefully give some confidence in their long-term viability. All-in-all travellerspoint is more about slow and sustainable growth rather than making money swiftly; Sam and Peter (the admins/owners) simply like running this site, and would rather keep doing that than selling out. And I think the slow and sustainable growth path, which goes together with a userbase which is growing only slowly as well, means there's not much risk of them being tempted by vast millions from one of the big players.
Probably the best feature of the blogging platform here are the swift and personal or are unclear about how or why things work the way they do.
If there's things you miss which would make everything work better for you, do let us know. (Or the same if in the end you pick some other service, do let us know which things specifically made that choice for you.) Feedback is definitely being listened to. New features for the blogs might not always get the highest priority - and they'll always be judged for the usefulness for the overall audience - but it's happened frequently enough that someone asked for something new which ended up being trivial to implement, and it'd be there a few days later.
