I'm heading out in October as well, but I'm going to stop in Thailand/Cambodia/Loas for a while so I don't plan to get to Australia till December....

I've been speaking to a few people and they say to budget for £1,000 a month. But that's based on not working and sightseeing etc.

Do you have any plans on where you want to go in Australia?
