Name your favorite location to visit in the United States
Why? Are you planning on a trip yourself?
I have never visited US. however, i know some famous places in this country such as: Dry Tortugasv national park , Huntington beach in California...
My favourite spot is Charleston, South Carolina.
Founded in 1670, and called Charles Towne, for Charles II the restored English King. Charleston is one of the oldest cities in the Carolinas with many interesting features. I personally am a fan of the architecture, as there are a plethora of historic buildings and even Civil War sites to be found here.
Also according to American Style magazine declared Charleston among the Top 25 art designations in USA.
Can't wait to visit again.
I have recently come back from backpacking in Central America. Not exactly the usual place to go, but it was an amazing experience with lots to do and see.
The best part was when I visited Boquete in Panama. There is the chance to go horseback riding, see how coffee is made in coffee plantations, bird watching, lots of restaurants with different types of food to eat and there are a lot of walks and beautiful scenery.
If your the adventurous type and walking isn't your cup of tea, you can go zip line touring, white water rafting or to the hot springs. It is ideal for families and couples with lots of things to do.
If you are interested I have put a link to a website that has information on the activities there.
Have a wicked time wherever you go!
Melissa, you might want to also post your comments above on a thread in the "Central/South America forum area", since it deals primarily with Panama. P.S. Welcome to Travellerspoint!
Conandoll, going to Dry Tortugas is a very unusual North America trip choice. While it is an amazing place, it is probably the least accessible spot (outside of remote Alaska wilderness) in the entire US;--as it is about 70 miles west of Key West, Florida --which is the southernmost point in the entire US.
This means it is entirely surrounded by the waters of the Gulf of Mexico with nothing else around it for at least 50 miles in all directions.
Welcome to Travellerspoint to you also.
My favorite spots in the US are: (1) the Grand Canyon, (2) Monument Valley, (3) the SF Bay area (where I live), (4) Santa Fe, and (5) New Orleans. Also worth a visit are Seattle in the US and its Canadian neighbors, Victoria (on Vancouver Island), the city of Vancouver itself, and the wilderness areas of Banff/Jasper on the British Columbia/Alberta border (two states in Canada).

Chicago for life.
The national parks around the Grand Canyon are stunning - Arches, Bryce, Canyonlands, North (& South) Rim and Monument Valley (although not a NP). But I think my favouroite place is Big Island, Hawaii. Great snorkeling with dolphins and turtles and a wonderful volcanic national park with glowing lava (I assume it's still glowing as it was in 2002).
I still haven't visited Washington DC nor New York yet - they're on my list.
Monument Valley is one of favorite spot in US
