Plan on travelling alone in September! Help! :)

Helo!
I'm 24 and from the UK and was thinking of travelling for roughly 3 months in September. So far I thought of travelling to Toronto, then down to LA, San Francisco, Miami, then back up to New York for Christmas time. As I will be travelling alone I am abit nervous but excited! But I have also heard travelling to Australia/New Zealand is more convenient for a traveller? Can I have your opinions on the places, money (In £ if possible) and the kind of advice you have for travelling alone. Plus if there's anyone going travelling to any of these places feel free to let me know as I love meeting new people and would be nice to do it with other! Thank-you! X

What kind of budget are you planning on? You're going to some potentially very expensive destinations that are really far apart...

Have fun.

Cheers,
Terry

Well after reading up on more info, even tho I wasnt planning on doing so. Im thinking of working in Australia for roughly 6 months... ill obvs have the 5000aus in the bank plus save more money after flights and get my Visa etc..and go through the Intro but I would also like to travel other places so maybe work away for 6 months then move on after saving more money. Still would love to go to New York for at least a week at xmas time as soo many people recommend it!
Thanks!

Good luck with your budget and finding work.

Cheers,
Terry

Thanks...would you recommend i save more money for Aus?

A job will help of course, but absolutely you'll need a pile more money for a 6 month stay. Most "normal" backpackers will blow through $5,000 in their first two months and that's living frugally.

Cheers,
Terry

My first thought is why waste a once-in-a-lifetime visa on a 6 month trip? If you want to work your way around the world, stopping for only several months at a time, consider doing this in other countries and save the Australian WHV for a time when you can spend the whole year (or two) there.

How long could you travel for with work/family/study or other commitments taken into account? How much money could you feasibly save before travelling? Your answers will help you determine what kind of trip may suit your circumstances.

I work in a private nursery so I have to quit. I moved back home and literally have no commitments hense going to Australia. I have now planned a trip with more people and will be going for a longer period but abit later on so I can save more money.

Nice! The sky's the limit then. Hit the road and keep on going
