A beach in Southern Thailand

Hey,

Hey Tatiana.
Well of course of you want quiet then you'll definitely have to avoid Koh Phi Phi and Koh Pha-Ngan. One of my favourite places was Railay, a short boat ride from Krabi Town. Very relaxed vibes going on and no big crowds. I'm not sure about hiking or yoga classes but there's definitely excellent rock climbing - I tried it for the first time there and it was a lot of fun! Some of the best fire dancers I've ever seen there too.

Thank you MarcoPolo89!

Railay seems to be a very good option, exactly what i am looking for concerning natural beauty and offering some paths for walking. From what i have read in a LP guide though, the three main beaches are part of the domain of expensive hotels. Is it still easy to stay there avoiding those places and enjoy the beaches as an independent traveller? Thanks again for your help

That was one of the drawbacks - there isn't really any hostels in Railay but there are some nice bungalows that you can get for a very good price, just up the hill from the main boat landing. The beaches are fairly sizable which means you will be able to find a quiet spot to relax on. I was there April 2013 and managed to get Phra Nang Bay all to myself for 2 hours There's some really nice bars around too which make it really easy to meet people; the locals are a lot more friendly than the other major tourists islands as well.

Railay will probably be packed.
Ko Jum would be a better option. 1.5 hours from Krabi, beautiful quiet beaches, cheap accommodation. With plenty of places to walk/hike. Not sure about Yoga here, though. I forgot where I stayed, but it was <20 usd / night private jungle hut with double bed / fan.

Hey Will_M !
I hadnt find any info about Ko Jum in my guides before probably due to the fact that it is not very touristy. It looks like a perfect island to relax on, thanks a lot for the advice

Khao Lak for the win! I think it's the most laid back and unspoilt beach in southern Thailand.

Koh Phi Phi Lek just stay over-night

Koh Pha-Ngan just not hadd rinn

or Koh Samet?
