Proving you have enough money to enter Australia???

Hi there,

Technically it's an eligibility requirement for the WHV that you can provide evidence of sufficient funds. The even states "Evidence of sufficient funds: certified copy of a bank statement showing you have access to funds of at least AUD 5000."
However, no one who has ever reported about this here on this website (myself included) has ever been asked at any point to provide this evidence in any form, and that document checklist contains way more completely inapplicable points, which might be relevant for some people applying, but aren't for the vast majority of no-risk European backpackers. The requirement is there mostly to protect backpackers against themselves, since AUD $5000 is really a minimum which most backpackers use up in two months or less, and so as long as you actually have that money available, I wouldn't worry about it at all.

I just arrived in Melbourne last week and they didn't check anyone from what I could see. If you have a British passport it's a quick Ebola questionaire and welcome to Australia.
