I did it guys, I took the step to leave my job and follow my passion of traveling and helping others! I've been accepted into the Peace Corp to go teach English in Thailand come January 5th of 2017! I've traveled out of country several time but never for longer than 2 weeks. I'm about to be in Southeast Asia for two years! I'm so unbelievable stoked! I know several of you have experience in this part of the world so please throw me some pointers :-)
I'm also going to try my hand at being a travel blogger. My blog will be centered around recommending travel clothing, luggage, tech, books, and guides but with a strong focus on clothing.

Will the Peace Corp take care of the Visa and Work Permit requirements?
You just can't show up and stay as long as you want even if the purpose is altruistic.
Thai Visa Forum is useful for expats. AJARN is a forum for teachers in Thailand. Teak Door is another forum for Thailand.
For two years set up your bank accounts ahead of time. My guess is that you will be using some of your money from your savings. If you have mortgages, car payments, insurance payments or similar time payments set up BILL PAY while still back home. You can pay any bills back home when in Thailand with a computer.
There is a fee to withdraw money from Thai ATMs. If you plan on using a debit or credit card notify your bank that you will be in Thailand BEFORE leaving home. If not your ATM withdrawal might be thought of as fraudulent and denied. Don't rely on a single card for spending money. Lose a single card or a "random acquaintance" steals it you will be out spending money!
Two years is a long time. Thiland does have some good long distance transportation. In your off time you might find some time to do some long distance exploring.
For me, I can buy a computer in the US cheaper than Thailand. My advice is to have a good computer with you. You can keep family and friends in touch with emails and maybe even Skype. Unless you are in some really out of the way remote location usually there are internet shops you can use for sending emails.
Two years is a long time and with a low salary.
Does the Peace Corps take care of your medical and dental requirement or you have to foot the bill? Must you pay for some sort of medical insurance?
Any electrical gizmos or devices that ONLY use 110 volts will fry in Thailand!!! Thai voltage is 220 v.
In Thailand normal traffic direction is on the left side same as the UK. If you intend to use a motorcycle have an International Drivers License (IDL) first.
