Does anyone have any experiences of Kharkov in Ukraine ?
I have visited Ukraine a few times and Kharkov (also called Kharkiv) is a place that I went to just once. Very nice, with lovely people. Really cold in the winter, but warm in the summer. I was there in the summer.
It has many apartment blocks (typical of most towns and cities in Eastern Europe), but the park in the city is well worth a visit. The railway station is quite magnificent and the train service from and to the city is excellent.
It's a big city with I think over 2,000,000 people.

Rather weird, but Kharkov gets a mention and it's fun to read.
Beautiful city with modern architecture. People are hospitable, many speak english. Among the sights are the Freedom Square which is the third large square in the Europe and the seventh in the world, Mirror Stream, Militia Museum and many churches and cathedrals. There is the subway.
It is a wonderful place with charming people!
There are some places in Kharkiv worth to see:
Kharkov dolphinarium - the largest in the CIS. Opened in Mayof 2009.
Monument to Yaroslav the Wise, near the metro station "Пушкинская"
Kharkiv metro includes 3 lines of 28 stations and has a length of 35,6 km.
There is airlift across botanical garden of Kharkov University and Gorky Park.
In Kharkov situated management of the Southern Railway and the Children's Railway Little Southern.
English Tank Mk V of the time of WWI
