Hi,
I was wondering if you could help me. I have a student residency permit from Portugal that is valid till January 2011. Now I want to do an internship in Amsterdam. Is my Portuguese residency permit valid in the Netherlands or do I need to apply for a Dutch residency permit?
You should be free to travel unrestricted within Portugal and Amsterdam.
Unless I'm mis-reading this and you've got a Portuguese residency permit, buy you're not Portuguese and are there on a temporary residency permit.
Which is it? There are so many people here that will help you, including me - if you can give a few more details.
Thanks.
Oh sorry I forgot to say that. I'm not Portuguese, I'm from Brazil.
With your portugese residency permit you can travel to Amsterdam - but you cannot work with it in the Netherlands.
You should get into contact with the Dutch immigration authorities and with the Portugese authorities. I am sure you need a work permit and a residency permit for the Netherlands to do your internship.
You should also make sure that applying for a residency permit in the Netherlands doesn't make your Portugese residency permit invalid.
