New York Hotel advice please

Hello
We're looking at going to New York in early december and was wondering if anyone can reccomend any hotels that are closest to all the main attractions/landmarks please, we'd love one with a view of the skyline from the room too ?
Oh and the budget is about £250/$380 or less per night
Thanks alot in advance
Joe

Check out one of NY's

We stayed at the Travel Inn a few weeks ago and found it quite centrally located,10 minute walk to times square and the theater district, free indoor parking if you have a car, rooms were pleasant, cost was a bit under $200 per night through an online discount site,Expedia i think.

We are travelling to the US August/September and have found great and quite cheap accommodation throughout our journey, and including New York via the website -snip-
This way you can also get to meet and stay with the locals, which we find a much more fulfilling cultural experience than staying in hotels and motels.

If you want a great view of the skyline, you should check out some hotels in Jersey City, NJ. Its right across the river from NYC and is usually cheaper. Its about a 15 min train ride into the NYC and the train runs 24/7.

When in Manhattan spending our own money, we prefer to stay at The Hotel at Times Square on 46th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues (6th Ave is also known as Avenue of the Americas).

The place is right off Times Square and the Theatre District, Radio City Music Hall, and short walks to Rockefeller Center and Grand Central Station for train and subway (tube) service. The restaurants of Clinton-Hell's Kitchen district are only 3 short blocks away. Taxicabs are everywhere.

Last visit we paid $179 USD for a clean, comfortable room with air conditioning and flat screen television. A complimentary continental breakfast is included in the price of the room, served downstairs daily. The hotel must be a good value because a lot of European tourists also stay there, and you'll see them at breakfast! The hotel also has an upstairs bar and internet access in the lobby area.

Note, you will not get a skyline view here, but you aren't paying for it, either. We will book this hotel on our next visit.
