Yunnan in September

We are back home today after 24 days in Yunnan - it is stunning! And we still didn't see it all!! Have to admit we didn't get off the beaten track too much (except for getting up to Shangri-La at all) as we had our 2 kids with us.

In Kunming we stayed at Camellia Hotel, but it has a hostel affiliated, which looked fine. There was a very helpful travel desk inside the hotel foyer.

We then went to Dali, on the overnight train - stayed at Jade Roo Hostel; there are 2 hostels in very close proximity just outside the city gate, Jade Roo and Jade Emu run by same team. Very clean, and had a great breakfast burger.

Then on to Lijiang. Stayed at May's Garden Inn. Quite basic, but lovely spot.

Finally we got to Shangri-La - and stayed for about a week longer than planned! Stayed at DragonCloud Hostel - can't recommend it highly enough. We had 2 double rooms for 100RMB each a night, with ensuite, but also had dorms with beds for 30RMB.

Didn't stay there, but had good recommendations about Tina's and Jane's (2 places) along the Tiger Leaping Gorge.

Happy to give you more info if you need. Wish we were still there!!

Have fun!!
