Europe in December

I am planning 2 weeks vacation from last week of December with my wife. I am looking for a comfortable, cultural and romantic vacation. Please tell me, what are the places we can go in December? I would like to avoid severe cold weather.

If you want to be sure of avoiding severe cold weather, think South. How about ? There's a chance it will be damp and cool anywhere in Europe at that time of year, but the very South of Spain won't be bitter.

Thanks for the reply magykal1. I also want to know the following:

1) What is the best place to celebrate New Year, if i am in Europe (Schengen countries) tour ?

2) At what place we can enjoy ski etc ?

If you want to combine skiing and mild weather go to Spain. You can ski in the Pyrenaes and then go to Andalusia.

Get a budget flight up to Edinburgh for NYE. There isn't anywhere on the planet that celebrates the new year like they do in Scotland.

Or if you're lucky you can ski on the Sierra Nevada for that whole ski in the morning, beach in the afternoon experience. It doesn't have a great snow record though.

Snow was excellent in Sierra Nevada last winter and the temperature on the beach in Marbella was around 25c too.
