We are in the process of applying for India Visa to travel to India in October, on completing the application I noticed that as well as UK based referee's they also ask for 2 India based referees...i do not (yet) know anybody who lives in India, have other people run into problems with this, can I get away with just entering NA into these fields? I am applying for a 6 month single entry tourist visa...any help much appreciated this is all new to me!

I don't remember if it's gotta be 2 reff.
But I remembered that I wrote my hotel address & a person's name who's handling my reservation through mail
in the first city I was flying to (that's Calcutta) and the officer was happy enough with it.

Sorry, forgot to mention that you must fill in those questions because before I came up with the idea to write the hotel contacts, I was actually leaving it blank and the officer insisted in me to fill it in.

Yup as sesa said, just put down a couple of hotels. They don't check any of it. Except possibly the existence of the hotel. Welcome to India, land of endless forms and bureaucracy, that have little if no mean and make even less sense.
