Well, regarding temperatures: yes, this is the good way. You'll be visiting Patagonia in summer (Dec/Jan).
But the thing is that some areas might be wetter in 'summer' than they are in winter. This is especially true for the higher areas of Bolivia and even more so Peru. Just go to www.weatheronline.co.uk and check for example Cuzco to see what I mean.

I'd say you are following the weather about as well as you can.
I did Brazil - Argentina - Uruguay - Argentina - Chile - Argentina - Bolivia - Peru in the months Oct - April and found some blistering weather en route.
Rio and coast of Brazil through Oct into Nov
North Arg - Cordoba - Rosario Nov - mid Dec
Bs As- coast of Uruguay - Bs As over mid Dec, xmas then NY
Argentinian lakes over early Jan.
Down coast of Chile to Patagonia mid Jan
Back up to Chilean lakes end of Jan then up towards Val P/Santiago
over to Mendoza and up north Arg for Feb
March in Boliva
April in Peru
I would say the worst weather in that time was Sucre in Bolivia (early to mid March) where it rained a bit and going back to the start the end of Brazil was rainy but when we got to Iguazu mid Nov it was beautiful.
I think you've picked well. Defo worth following the weather so you can get out and see everything a country has to offer.
oh, it got a bit cold in LP (Bolivia) but we went to Rurrenabaque for 5 days where is was very warm.
