It is, however, not good time to go there I rather suggest you to visit south India..
It's been "not a good time to visit" Kashmir for the last 60 years. I doubt that's going to change anytime soon.
By the way, has anyone been on the Karakorum highway (from China to Pakistan) recently? Is it still safe? That's one of the trips I dream of making this decade.
