If you are in Bangkok for a few days then I suggest you take yourself down to the Bangkok Hilton which is a notorius prison. There is an inmate there called Gary Jones who is servng a life sentence. He is a really sound guy who appreciates any visitors as being so far away from home (England) he does not get many. Chatting to him is very interesting as is getting to see the prison. All you need is to bring your passport. I found the prison staff helpful and in good humour but this may change on who is working.
