Need to go!

Hi everyone. My name is Brittany. I'm new at these forums. I just got rejected from my dream job and now am at a loss for what to do next with my life! I finished college, am debt free, and have a passion for travel. I just don't want to go it alone. I know, I've heard you're never really alone when you travel, as you meet other backpackers...but I just like to have one partner. I am from the US. I have a desire to go to Australia, New Zealand, backpack Europe, go to the jungles in S. America, volunteer in Africa, etc etc. How do I do this? How do I fund everything? Is anyone out there in the same boat as me?! I look forward to responses : )

You fund it by building up a sum of money. RTW is EXPENSIVE. Don't count on working in any foreign country.

Every young person gets itchy feet at some time and wants to travel somewhere, anywhere away from their mundane life. Most put it on the back burner and end up doing it in their fifties, when they have the time and money.

Going with someone else can have so many potential problems. Like marriage, you don't really know someone till you go on holiday with them.

I didn't necessarily mean I wanted to go through RTW. I just want to see the world and wanted some feedback on anyone's experiences.

Hi Brittany,
Nice to know you want to travel. The question you want to ask yourself is: why?
If all you can think of is because you have nothing else to do, I suggest you stay where you are and try to explore your own town or city first. Then again, curiosity is reason enough to go anywhere.

As Cyberia said, travel is expensive. You mentioned that you are debt free, but do you have the funds to travel?.

I've done some quick travelling also some really long, slow travelling (as in staying in one city for 3-9 months). Right now I'm planning a RTW trip myself.

Like many travel books say, travel won't change you. I reckon travelling around the world with an unlimited budget to being like a kid in a candy shop. There's so much and so many different kinds of "candies" but if you grab everything you see and eat it all, you'll just get a stomachache in the end (not to mention cavities).

For now, pick one very special place you want to see and go. Stay if you like it, leave if you don't. Or get a recommendation from someone else if you really can't think of any place. Just don't let them raise your expectations only for you to get there and have your hopes dashed. And don't let anyone else's travel stories be your travel experience. Create your own experiences...

I might be at risk of having confused you more than given you advice, but I hope you work it out!

Cheers

I've already been overseas a few times. They were one-two month adventures. I loved everything about it. I love different cultures, people, food, smells, sights, religion, everything. We are only on Earth once and I would like to see as much of it as I can. I just don't want to waste time by being stagnant.
Just looking for any kind of feedback. And thank you to everyone who posted : )
How is your planning going? Where are you looking to explore?
