Hey, I'm think of flying into melbourne also, around early february 2012 on a whv too. How long are you planning on staying in melbs for? I will also be looking hard for a job as lack of savings - how much funds are you planning on taking over if you're predominantly looking to work?

cool, depending on work i would like to stay in or around melbourne for a bit, save a little then move on.
i should have £3500-£4000 by the time i fly. im not going to work all the time though

When you guys get to Melbourne make sure you take a trip to St. Kilda - awesome beach there and a nice street full of cake shops - Acland Street. Fitzroy street is also a nice place for decent cafes and restaurants - enjoy Melbourne....one of my fav places. It's a nice city - if you can hire a car and do the great ocean road - something not to be missed!!
Oh and don't forget the Espy - well the esplanade hotel...they always have events going on. Just be aware of the sticky floor!
