Hey Guys.
Im wondering if any of you have done what ive done as i think ive made a big boo boo!!...
I applied for my new zealand without reading it through properly. i put down i wanted 23 months there as i want to do as long as i can there! but didnt realise that u needed a medical sent off.
Im booked in with my docter to have one but i only have 15 days (now 13) to send it of to them. its obvious it going to take a bit longer then that to get all my results back so what do i do.????
has anyone done this before. and what was the outcome.
Please help as im not sure how it all works lol.
I assume you're from the UK, since (as far as I know), only UK citizens have the option to apply for a 23 month WHV. What I'd do is to contact them by phone - I've heard people on this forum say before that they are generally very helpful.
As a UK citizen you can also apply for a WHV from within New Zealand, with the medical documentation then being a requirement regardless of if you select 12 or 23 months. And as a UK citizen, you can just arrive in New Zealand without a visa, and be allowed to stay for six months. Combining those two facts, it seems to be that it should just be fine to fly to New Zealand without a visa, and have the WHV take effect a bit later. (You just wouldn't be allowed to do any work during that initial time.) However, since you've already applied, I'm not absolutely certain that really holds, and that's something you'd need to confirm with them over the phone. Alternatively, you might ask about being able to cancel your current application, and reapplying once you've arrived in New Zealand?
One way or the other, I'm pretty certain it'll work out for you - I just don't know the exact details. Good luck, and once it's all been resolved, please reply back here to tell us about it?
