Returning from 5 months Trek of the Americas, overland

RVed to the tip of South America on the Pan AMerican Highway. We spent so much time enjoying Columbia, and Uruguay more than expected, that we almost ran out of time! Our camper is still in Uruguay, and we will go back and continue, or maybe sell it to a northbound foreign traveler, not really sure yet???

Hi there,
Just wondering what type of rv/camper you used for your trip. I am also planning a panam trip and wondering about the logistics of traveling with a small travel trailer, especially border crossings and shipping. Please reply if you have advice, thanks!

Hi shweeties... I used a diesel Ford pickup with a Lance Truck camper, enough space for 4 persons, but much more comfortable with just 2! All the facilities of queen bed, fridge, micro, hot water, shower, double sink, tv, radio, closet and storage space. 40 gal frest water tank.

Also the truck was diesel and economical with a 40+ gal fuel reserve. The trailer is also ok, but I prefer the camper, because of the towing. Trailers tend to pick up debris from the tow vehicle and have more flats. Also security of the parked trailer is a factor.

I will be crossing into Mexico sometime in August starting my trip to the tip of South America. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them.
