It would depend on how long you are going to be there and what you are going to do there. I have heard of Asian women going to stay with boyfriends or relatives there turning up with just $20 in their pockets, and after their stories checking out, being let in.
Basically you must have enough to realistically be enough for your stay but unless you arrive in tatty clothes or do something to bring the attention of the customs service on you (be nice to them if you are unlucky to be stopped), you will not be bothered. Take along a credit card and you can claim any realistic amount of money on it and they will accept it.

hey im 26 from ireland. yeah im flying from dublin but i have a connection flight from heathrow to singapore then perth. I actually feel grand im lookin forward to it, it will be something different!!!! im flying out with my nephew (hes 21 and a friend of ours hes 26)
My flight to Singapore is 18.30 then I fly to Brisbane! So might see u in the air port lol! We may even be on same Singapore flight! Hope u all have a great time! I did some packing earlier and my bag is almost same size as me! Sooooo excited xx
Hey yeah that's the same flight as us to Singapore, but we're flying to Perth after that!! I'm all packed just have to throw a few bits on top!!! :P
