new travellers

Hi, Me and my partner are looking to go travelling for 6 months from october this year and would really like to do as much of the world as possible, particularly Asia, Australia & NZ and South America but I was wondering realistically how much can be fit in to 6 months? e.g. could we also fit in some of north america and india or is this a bit too ambitious? greatful for any advice

In my opinion 6 months is barely long enough to explore/discover one major area. In other words Asia or Central/South America, but not both.

That said, there was a poster here recently who was doing 20 countries in 6 months... for me that's insane... you're simply ticking countries off a list, you're not attempting to understand anything or immerse yourself in any culture along the way.

Different strokes...

Cheers,
Terry

I agree with Terry. I did in one year what you are talking about fitting into 6 months (Asia, Australia, NZ and South America NOT North America) and that didn't give me the opportunity to spend the time I wanted in some places. It's worth taking some time to rethink what you really want to see and do (your priorities). You can send me a message through TP if you want more information because I blog about that sort of thing - making the most of your travels etc.

Best wishes,

Teresa.

thanks for your advice - i am now looking at going for longer as i dont want to miss out on the main areas of asia, australasia and south america. Although we are not looking at staying for months on end in one place we do want to appreciate the culture and feel for each continent.

its very exciting and cant wait to start our adventure

I know you will have an amazing time - enjoy!

I think it can fit for you guys but it also depends on how you plan your whole trip decide according to the climatic conditions as to which country is better to visit in which month.

Must admit i'd struggle to fit in all of the places you intend on going in 6 months. Would prob end up just spending it in S.E Asia.
