Uruguay or Peru?

Hola! ..I'm thinking to go either Perú or Uruguay in the summer (December to march).. I haven't made up my mind yet. It depends on wich is cheaper, where are more things to do, etc. Oh! and if I find a buddy to go with me!

Peru has Cuzco, Lake Titicaca (largest alpine lake in the world), Machu Pichu and the Inca Trail, Nazca Lines, the Andes AND the Amazon. Uruguay has... a nice view of Buenos Aires. Maybe that's unfair, but it seems like comparing Nebraska with New York City. There's no question which one has more to see and do.

Yeah! I thought about that... but anyway I'll go to both.. the thing is wich one first! How many will it take me to see all those places in Peru?

It's expensive travelling between the two places.

Peru does have most things, including Lima which has quite a bit to see. You could try out Chile, Ecuador or another country if you feel like seeing somewhere else besides Peru.

Colonia in Uruguay is very quaint and pretty - it's worth spending at least a day there.

Read Post #2 again... your question makes no sense... you're comparing two REALLY different places, then you say you'll do both... do you realize how far apart they are?

Secondly, you have from December to March, correct? 4 months? That's loads of time to see a fair chuck of South America and for quite cheaply too.

In any case I'd suggest you rethink your logistics...

Cheers,
Terry

Thank you for your replies!! ..I've should said that I live in Argentina.. so both are almost at the same distance and I'd spend the same amount of money in both! ..I guess I'll make up my mind if I find someone says "Let's go to .........."! LOL ..'cause I can't choose wich one first! Any of you is planning to go?

Oh! and I said "december to march" trying to explain what I meant with "summer".. I know they're pretty different places..

Anyway, I'm new in this web.. and I won't post any other question or ask for advice.. I'm sorry to bother you all! I thought maybe you could help me to make up my mind!

Thank you all!

Ah! Now it makes sense! You should have said at the beginning that you are from Argentina.

Well, wherever you go, have fun!

You can get a ferry from Buenos Aries to Colonia, Uruguay.

A direct flight to Lima can be expensive. It is cheaper to fly to Santiago, Chile which is worth a look around as well as a visit to Valparaiso which is just an hour away by bus (the bus station is a walk away from the railway station in Santiago).

Then either a flight to Lima or a very, very long bus ride. Check out Lima before heading elsewhere:
