Can I enter UK for a business trip?

Hello everyone,
I have a question I would appreciate your help with. I am a Canadian citizen. In November 2012 I by mistake overstayed in Schengen zone (Hungary). I was confused about 90 days rules. When I realized that I overstayed -I immediately flew back to Canada. I was stopped in Amsterdam by officers who politely informed me that I overstayed in Schengen zone. Now, I need to go on a business trip to London for 1 week in June 2013. So my question is: will I be able to enter UK with no trouble? I know that UK is not a part of Schengen zone, but I am still worried that I might have problems entering UK because of my overstay. I will, of course, contact UK Embassy before I go there, but I would appreciate any of your advice. Thanks!

No amount of advice, opinion or suggestion posted on here will be of any greater worth.

Ditto WomBatt.

I understand that, but I started this thread to hear opinions of people who may be experienced similar situation. Of course, I will get a legal help before I go to London.

Lana, I can give out all kinds of accurate, up-to-date Immigration advice ( ) but in your situation experiences/anecdotes/opinions are meaningless.

Get it from the horse's mouth.

Cheers,
Terry

UK isn't Schengen, but still it is still connected a bit with that as UK is a part of European Union. I haven't had any experience like that and as an European Union citizen I don't know a lot about people coming here from other countries, but I was just thinking that I can enter UK with my ID-card (no passport needed, in Schengen zone all we need to travel with is an ID-card). So UK accepts like other countries in European Union, that are out of Schengen or even some countries, who simply are in Europe (not in European Union or Schengen), the rules of Schengen a bit. And as we know english people are english people, England is England - so you may have problems. But it also depends on the person, who takes it more seriously, who doesn't, if they have information about you staying in European Union for way too long.
