Hi,
I'm flying from Sydney to Cairns on December 10th, I have 3 adults and 1 child in my party and are looking for flights that wont break the bank but I'm also concerned about the luggage allowance as I fly in from the UK on international flights then looking for domestic flights.
anyone got any ideas to keep the cost down please.

Cheap internal flights
Tiger has a terrible reputation in Australia after they were grounded last year for having dangerous planes and left people stranded all over the place. Sometimes though its those sort of things that kick an airline in the ass and they get their act together.
Other than that you can fly with Jet Star, (also fraught with problems) but when you book with them you can book different baggage allowances, and they usually have cheap flights.
You do know that Cairns in December is very hot and humid, and the start of the rainy season?

guess the main problem I will have is the baggage allowance and the connection times.
last time i traveled up the I went with virgin blue but was 6 years ago and thought things would have moved on a little.
Yes Rodger i was up there November 6 years ago for the week, weather was OK till we went in the rain forest at Mossman gorge otherwise we did OK.
looking for the flights up and motor home travel back to Sydney for the new year so any advice or info would be good.
