New York to Orlando

Hi
I'm about to travel the whole summer through the USA with my family
Currently I'm planning my way from New York City to Orlando
I would love to know if any of you did the same trip or could give me some advice!?
Should I go by bus, train or plane?
Which cities should I visit?
Would appreciate any advice and suggestions, thanks

If you are planning to travel the whole summer through between New York and Orlando, then the question becomes--are you planning to spend a lot of time at one location, with side trips to the many other spots--or are you planning to go from place to place for the six week period?

If your plan is to the first, then you should pick someplace fairly centrally located between Orlando and New York---for example, somewhere new Washington DC or in Virginia--or maybe on the North Carolina coast to do your trips from. Because of the distance between these places and Orlando/New York, I would actually pick two different locations--maybe one place near Philadelphia to spend the first 3 weeks, and then some place near Atlanta to spend the last 3 weeks--and then take 2-3 day side trips to many of the surrounding locations.

If your plan is to go place-to-place, then I'd either rent a round-trip car rental (start and end in the same spot) and visit some of the highlights along the way. In six weeks a typical itinerary might be like the following:

Fly into Atlanta
Travel southwest to New Orleans
Drive to Tampa or Orlando--take in Disney World for 3-4 days and visit the space center
Head north to Daytona Beach, then to Savannah, Charleston, and along the North Carolina coast.
Visit Williamsburg, Yorktown, and go on to Mount Vernon, then to Washington DC.
Go on to Philadelphia, then New York
Head back south to Baltimore, then cut west to Frederick and south through the Shenandoah Valley
Drive to Great Smoky National Park, then to Nashville
Drive to Memphis and visit the BB King Blues spot, Sun Records, and Graceland
Return to Atlanta

Enjoy your trip--whatever you decide to do.

Oh, I forgot to mention--if you want to know anything about the US civil war, stop at either Gettysburg or at Antietam (Sharpsburg, Maryland) when returning south to Baltimore/Frederick area.

These two battlegrounds were where the two largest battles of the war took place.

Also, in Nashville, visit the Hermitage, the Country Music Hall of Fame, and Opryland.

Thank you so much!!!!
I actually forgot to write that I've got only 1 week time for the way from nyc to orlando
But I'm definitely gonna take a look at the places you mentioned!
