Travelling solo to New Zealand..!

So iv got my WHV and I'm travelling to NZ this October from England alone!!
Just wondered if anyone else was planning on doing anything similar?!
Emma

Hi Emma,

I haven't got my WHV as of yet but I am definitely going to Nz later this year. I don't understand some of it though, so can you apply in Advance for October or is it valid now? Are you planning to be there for 6 months or did you get the 23 month WHV?

I have been wanting to for as long as I can remember. I think I would want to do a tour of the country to start with as I think it would be the best way to experience it rather than working, saving no money and then running out of time at the end (which I know I would do).

I would like to settle in Auckland. The only thing I do plan to do is spend about a week in Wellington but other than that, I don't have much else planned.

What made you choose Nz over Oz?

Danielle :-)

Hello.
Yes, you can apply now and you have a year to enter NZ. S I have until next March to go but am going in October. And iv got a 12 month visa
I want to travel around first as well, with the money I'm saving before, there's quite a few places I certainly want to visit. But I'm the same and want it mainly base in Auckland

Hey,

Oh I see. I thought once it was issued your 12 months started then, not when you entered the country. That's cool.

How much money are you planing on taking etc? My friend went to NZ for a year last year and told me that it's cheaper to book any kind of tours out there as opposed to going with some of the companies in the UK. I'm pretty open to most things as I have been looking into this for a while. The only things I wont do is sky diving or bungee jumping because I'm a bit of a fairy like that

Your 12 months start when you enter NZ so you can get your visa upto a year before you go. I'm pretty sure that's how it all works I'm hoping to go out with about £3000, I'm trying to save as much as I can!
Yeah, I just want to get out there now! Really excited! I really wanna do anything like that! Just want to make the most of it!

Oh ok. Sure that makes sense.

That sounds about right. I'll have the minimum £2,100 (approx) for the WHV, then hoping to take another £1,500. I have tried hinting to the rents for a contribution but they are having none of it. I would like to think that they are only winding me up though...

Slightly off topic, but has anyone said anything about travelling alone? I only ask because my Mum still isn't fond of the idea

Yeah, I have tried that Aswell. So fingers crossed!
And not really I think the majority of people travel alone, and met people out there because everyone's in the same boat. I'm booking my flights through a company called STA Travel and they do flights where you can meet people at the airport in NZ all doing the same sort of thing

Look into going to rotorua...really good tourist spot.

Auckland good hostels everybody Is really friendly-if you want to do any tours they will help you out.
Night life is all right, Auckland city is pretty small lol.

look into going to
-Whangarei
-Kaitia
-Rotorua

-Hamilton
-Auckland
Jump off the sky tower!

-North shore
-Wellington
-Invercargil
-Dunedin

if you have a license you should look into renting a car (Juicy) or campervan and doing a road trip.

Rotorua is a good place to go to for KIWI FRUIT PICKING.....lots of backpackers do this....good money and a chance to meet other people doing the same the thing---Rotorua (bay of plenty) is about 2 hours outside of Auckland City.

Hiya , I am travelling alone to NZ in October too October the 27th! Very nervous though as first time travelling!! When are you flying out? Have you sorted your flights? X
