Got some slow working TP, but also errors when wanting to add a cover photo and also I was logged out just 10 minutes ago, while I logged in here just 2-3 days ago (Tuesday I guess), so that's not normal either.
Also just 12 people logged in now...lowest I've seen in a while...so might be related.
Just checking in case...maybe a bug otherwise.

18 hours ago.. I shut down the site briefly at that point as it was indeed starting to be sluggish. I think that must have been when you were on.
From around the time of Utrecht's report, up to now, I've been regularly feeling the site being very slow in initial connections. It's taking forever in the "Waiting for secure.travellerspoint.com" step, and sometimes processing ends after the first part of the page. In that case, the last few lines are:

<div id="content_wrapper">
<!-- google_ad_section_start -->
And then it just ends. When that happens, later opened tabs show the "There's been an unidentified error" message, (seen three times today iirc; so I'll assume details of those should be in your inbox).
I suspect it might be related to session handling, as it always happens after I've been away from the site for a while - and once pages have loaded, further pageloads tend to be just fast as always (though not reliably so; sometimes a next page is still slow, as is in fact the case with trying to edit this post). I've deleted all TP cookies and logged in anew, but that hasn't made any difference to this happening.

I've found TP slow to load up today too.
I also got the error page when posting this, but my entry had still been posted.

Hi guys, there was some serious performance problems over the weekend. It's running quite stably now and I've made some changes that should improve things.
