21 year old, looking to travel the world without money

Hey, evening.

Btw, I am new to this site/forum so if I need to include my email for you guys to contact me or whatev then let me know.

Josh

I think you'll find that you really do need some backup funds, even if your intention is to trade work for food/board etc.

Have a read of "the lonely people", an autobiography on the people who started Lonely Planet for some ideas on how to get by. If you check out 'the big trip' it also goes through ways to get by on little/no funds in different countries, which may give you some ideas.

Good luck!

Hi Josh,

The first thing I would do is research ways to hitch a ride from the UK. I'm presuming hitching a lift is the MO the guys in America are using, which is fine if your travel is confined to one land mass. You might need to volunteer as crew on a sailboat or something, and even then there could be some costs involved.

In any case, good luck! Can't wait to read about the adventure.

I think it is a good idea, but many countries may not available for this kind of travel, people is different from other people, anyway, good luck for you

I think to travel without money you kinda have to throw out all your plans and go with the flow depending on what others are willing to offer you.

I recently returned from a round the world trip for a year and a half and spent most of my savings. Anyway, I'm now collecting "free things to do" around the world as to help myself and perhaps others to travel cheaper (or without money, if at all possible).

The database now exists as a website called -snip-

Check it out. Hope you find it useful.

Elys

Many thanks to the speedy responses and informative answers. I will do some research in the coming weeks/ months.

Would really like to travel in a group though so trying to rally up a few friends who are up for it and post on some other forums.

No you Can't travel the world without Money

If you have a skill and/or you're not afraid of hard work then of course it's possible to travel with no money, there are LOTS of long term travellers who've been on the road for ages and have long since spent their savings and are now perpetuating their travel by working as they go.

Expecting to travel without money by mooching off the kindness of others is in my opinion simply being a boring, lazy bum.

Cheers,
Terry

Terry,
Don't sugar coat it, tell us what you really think!

I flew into the UK years ago on a one way ticket. Plan A was to find a Thomas Cook last minute booking to the Canary Islands. UK Immigration did not like the one way ticket arrival. They wanted to see if I had sufficient funds for my stay. I had over $3KUSD in travel check and cash on me. That was enough and they let me in. I can foresee this problem coming up with Josh trying to travel the world w/o money. Some countries (US among them) will check to see if you have enough money for your stay.
