I recently booked a one way flight to Bangkok to travel Thailand. This is something I've been wanting to do for a while and had been very excited about booking! Since booking my flight I've become very nervous about going on my own and scared I either won't meet anybody and be lonely the whole time and scared that I won't be safe. This is something I've been so excited to do but now I'm so anxious and nervous about going I'm scared I won't enjoy it. Is this normal? Is there anybody else travelling around the same time- end of jan that's in the same boat?
It is normal. You do not worry. You will meet friend there and have interesting trip. Cheers
Hey!
I was in the exact same position as you. Since leaving uni (2 years ago) I had plans to go travelling and once i finally booked my flights back in august my excitement went and it was completely taken over by nerves and fear, but after doing my research properly, scouring forums I can see that I'm not alone atall. The majority of people posting are also travelling solo!
Two of my friends left a couple of weeks ago for SEA and they are having the best time, ever since they went i've felt excited again and can't wait!
I leave in just under three weeks and am travelling solo.
So don't worry there are so many other people in the same boat as you.

Hey Sams kay - as an ex-Thai traveller, I can also confidently say you'll be fine!
I went in 2004 with a few friends (tender age of 19 at the time ) and met loads of travellers from Europe, Australia and the US. Everyone is really accommodating that travels there, but I'd just keep your eyes open for scams. *offering suits is a big one. As is seemingly innocuous things like giving you bird feed to spread in Bangkok before asking you for cash - happened to me!
Within a few days you'll find your feet. Saying that, I was a guy with other guys. Here's a good thread about a 22 year old girl student travelling and her experience that might put your mind at ease: -snip-
Keep an eye on related threads in the meantime I guess, and have an amazing time!!!

Hey Sam!!
I've booked to go to Bangkok on the 27th January, and have 2 months to see Thailand, Laos, Vietnam & Cambodia before i fly to Australia at the end of March. Im going on my own as I booked this all completely spur of the moment a few months ago! It just started to hit me in the last week that im really going alone and im getting more nervous than excited! What route do you have planned when you arrive?
Feel free to get in touch with me any time. Jill x
