Personally, i didn't find Milano to be a very interesting city. But that's only my opinion and i am not a big fan of cities anyway.
The Duomo (gothic-style cathedral) is quite impressive and i would recommend you to take the visit up to the roofs (10€ if i am not mistaken) to have the most beautiful views of the city. If you are into architecture, the Central Station is also a marvelous piece and probably the most beautiful train station i've seen in Europe. If you are into fashion, then don't miss the Quadrilatero della Moda, the area where you can find the most prestigious boutiques. Milano is known for its churches and museums, but i didn't spend much time indoors so i can't really advice you on that.
Try some ice-cream while you are there, it's not hard to find a shop and usually there are lots of different flavours, most of them delicious!!

Hi! Here I am again, trying to post on the blog about Milan!
It is my city, so I would be able to suggest you some place, also from a non-touristic point of you (like restaurants).
Milan is a very big city and it offers a lot of attractions, mostly it depends on how many days you have to spend and what your interests are.
First, if you go to the stadium for AC Milan.... Please give the support for me as well!haha! I can't follow it from South Africa, where I live at the moment :-( haha! :-)
Anyway, as the other person was suggesting, there are some points that you can't miss:
- Duomo (the cathedral) in the city centre of Milan. Beautiful and stunning. In some parts of the year (like Xmas and Easter) they also put some big historical painting inside. If the day is sunny and clear don't miss to go on the roof (by elevator or steps), you can see a beautiful panorama up to the mountains :-)
- the galleria Vittorio Emanuele, in the same Duomo square; it was built in 1861 by the architect Mengoni and it was used by the Milanese people as a meeting and social area especially in the rainy days, as it is covered. Inside the gallery,at the second floor there is also a 7 start hotel!
- Castello Sforzesco (castle) - you can reach it with the subway or simply by walking 20-30 minutes from the duomo, it is all pedestrian area (suggested); inside there are a lot of museums and there is also a great park where you can jog or walk.
-Giardini Pubblici - another park close to the city centre and close to Corso Buenos Aires, another street of shopping at a cheaper price
- if you like luxury you can walk in Via Montenapoleone - all the most famous brands of fashion and jewellery
- Don't miss the "Last Supper" of Leonardo da Vinci (to be booked some months in advance) that is located at the church Santa Maria delle Grazie. - Brera - it is a quarter in the city centre, very historical and characteristic. I would suggest to walk through it. Very narrow street, nice restaurants.
- Ice cream suggestions... YEAH! A great idea! I miss Italian food and ice-cream, real ice-cream! There is a chain of ice-cream shops, veeerryyy good called GROM. Try it! There is one just behind the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele and one in Corso Buenos Aires (shopping road). Try it!!! "Crema di Grom" is a super taste! My favourite; Nocciola, pistacchio, crema di grom and stracciatella! :-) AND there is also the flavour of the month :-)
- Airplane: I would suggest to land in Milano Linate Airport (very close to the city centre that you can also reach by public bus - 30 minutes); in alternative for cheap flights you can have a look at Ryanair or easyjet.
- If you like Shopping - everywhere! In the duomo area-piazza san babila-Via dante (it is the road that takes from the Duomo to the castle) or Corso Buenos Aires, that you can reach by walking or with the subway (I would suggest walking so you see the Giardini Pubblici, the park that I mentioned before and all the beautiful houses on the way).
-Navigli: these are the canals of Milan - nice for nightlife, restaurant and also for a walk :-)
In general there are so many interesting things to do in Milan... Also on the right side of the duomo (facing it) there is the "Villa Reale" where they organise very interesting temporary expositions and there is the museum of '900, built last year.

P.s. there is also the AC Milan shop just behind the Duomo in a small road!!! :-)
p.s.s. I also would suggest to visit the Rinascente, a big mall just on the side of the Duomo.

I did not know there were 7 Star hotels. Yes, I do like luxury, but sadly luxury does not like my bank balance, but I will keep all your suggestions in mind on my trip.
I do intend to visit the San Siro during my trip, as Milan are due to play Juventus that weekend.

I just mentioned the 7 stars hotel because a few people know it exists! I had a job interview there :-) It is a very nice place, but I don't know if I would have rate it 7 stars... In my mind a 7 stars would be a bit different, but I think that it is the service and what they offer that makes the difference! Basically you also have (almost) the person that wear the shoes for you!hahah!!! :-)
If you want to eat another amazing ice cream you have to go at "Il Massimo del Gelati" via Castelvetro in the area of corso Sempione/arco della pace. Amazing!!! :-) Far from the city centre but good area for night life!
Have a Pizza at Gianat, a very nice restaurant in Via Muratori/Lazzaro Papi. Also amazing fish at good price, very friendly people!
